Who should we interview next?
Every month, Northline Storyworks films one Northern Michigan story at no cost to the person or family. The community decides who: nominate someone whose story should be preserved, or add your vote to a person already suggested.
Voting for the September 2026 spotlight is open through October 2, 2026 — 27 days left.
The idea
How it works
Every round has a posted closing date, usually about four weeks after it opens.

Nominate
Tell us who should be on film and why. A longtime resident, a family business, a veteran, an artist, a volunteer, a local historian, or a community leader all qualify. The studio reviews each new name before it appears on the list.

Vote
Anyone can add their vote to a person on the list until the round closes. One vote per phone number per nominee.

Watch
When the round closes, the studio contacts the selected person or family, plans the interview with them, films it, and publishes the finished story here for everyone to watch.
Vote counts are kept private until the round closes. Votes are confirmed by phone number, nominations are reviewed before they appear, and votes that do not hold up are removed. The studio confirms the selected person is comfortable being filmed before anything is announced; if they would rather not, the next nominee is invited.
